Robert Kato
Born in Orange County and raised in the Japanese countryside, Robert began fishing in grade school, targeting everything from carp to catfish. As bass fishing gained popularity in Japan during the 90s, he transitioned to using artificial lures.
In 1996, Robert relocated to Colorado. The local cold-water environment led him to take up fly fishing and fly tying. After completing college and gaining professional experience in other fields, he eventually joined a fly shop and began guiding a year later.
Today, Robert splits his time between the hemispheres. In the Northern Hemisphere, he guides multi-day trips in the Gunnison Gorge, while in the Southern Hemisphere, he serves as a float guide in Patagonia. He loves rowing clients into position to fish big dries against the banks and dry-droppers through the riffles.
Being on the river with Robert, better know as Kato, will teach you a great number of one-liners and gives you a lot of laughs. Fun guaranteed.
