It is in the mountains and in their rivers where Dave Neal feels most at home. His love for the mountain lifestyle began as a young child, but really came to fruition nearly twenty years ago when he moved to Big Sky, Montana to pursue the life as a ski bum. Although winter is what brought him to Montana, the summers are what kept him there. The blue-ribbon trout fishery along with the whitewater of the Gallatin River has been his home for nearly two decades.
In the US summer Dave guides in Montana fishing the Big Hole, Jefferson, Madison, Beaverhead, and Ruby River. A few years he hung up his hat as a whitewater guide to solely focus on fly-fishing. He loves ripping streamers and throwing dry-flies.
Although Dave has made the most out of the mountain lifestyle in both skiing, fishing, and whitewater, he is also an academic. With two undergraduate degrees and a masters, he has taught elementary school for the last eleven years. The combination between his ability to connect with people and his experience on the river makes him a natural guide.
